Tomorrow in the government: discussion on the budget and standards for prosecuting Nukhba terrorists
The government will discuss tomorrow a proposed resolution to implement the law for prosecuting the perpetrators of the October 7 massacre. The proposal includes allocating additional budget, establishing a dedicated administration in the IDF, and appointing judges to a military court in Jerusalem. It also proposes increasing the maximum deficit rate from 0.3% to 0.8% starting in 2027.
Tomorrow (Sunday), the government will bring to approval a proposed resolution to implement the law for prosecuting the perpetrators of the October 7 massacre, which was published in the official gazette this week. The law, known as the "Law for Prosecution for the Events of the October 7, 2023 Massacre – Second 5785 – 2026," establishes special legal and organizational arrangements for conducting legal proceedings against the perpetrators of the massacre. The terrorists will be tried before a military court in Jerusalem, to be appointed by the Chief of Staff with the approval of the President of the State. The Israel Prison Service will be responsible for securing the compound. The law establishes a dedicated mechanism for victims of the offense, including real-time broadcasting of the proceedings. For implementation, a dedicated administration and a steering committee headed by the Director General of the Ministry of Defense will be established in the IDF. The proposed resolution amends a previous decision and allocates additional budget and resources. To this end, the government will approve an increase in the maximum deficit rate from 0.3% to 0.8% starting in 2027, and will submit a three-year plan to the Knesset. Additionally, extensive borrowing of personnel from various ministries will be approved.
