They shot them in the head and threw them into a well: 158 years in prison for the perpetrators of the 'surfers' murder'

A Mexican court has sentenced three men to 158 years and nine months in prison each for the murder of three young men—two Australian brothers and their American friend—during a surfing trip in Baja California in 2024. The victims are brothers Jake and Callum Robinson and their friend Carter Rhoad. According to trial findings, the three were shot dead during a robbery gone wrong while they were parked at a remote beach near Ensenada on April 27, 2024. Their bodies were found in an abandoned well with gunshot wounds to the head. The convicted are Jesus Gerardo (known by his alias "El Cacas"), Ireneo Francisco, and Angel Jesus. The victims' families watched the sentencing hearing remotely via video call. The prosecution demanded compensation of over $100,000, but the judge rejected the request, ruling that it would be addressed in separate civil proceedings. The brothers' parents, Martin and Debra Robinson, traveled from Australia to Ensenada for the start of the trial in September and established a foundation in memory of their sons.
