Musician and creator Erez Halevi passed away at the age of 71. Halevi, one of the unique voices of Israeli music in the 1980s, is credited with notable songs such as 'So Nature Created You', 'The Fishermen', and 'Tonight'. His sister-in-law eulogized him: 'With a broken heart and deep sorrow, we bid farewell today to my beloved brother-in-law... Erez knew how to touch the deepest chords of the heart through his creations'. Halevi was born in 1954 in the Sha'arayim neighborhood of Rehovot, and began playing guitar at age 15. He started his musical career performing in pubs. In the early 1980s, he participated in a young talent competition organized by Matti Caspi, who was impressed by his talent and produced his debut album. In 1984, the album 'Tonight' was released, blending soft rock, folk, and Eastern influences. The song 'So Nature Created You' became associated with self-acceptance and the LGBTQ community. His second album, 'Intermediate State' (1994), did not achieve similar success. Halevi is survived by three children.
