"They are also the political Iron Dome": What Israel may lose with American aid

Former Israeli ambassador to the US, Michael Oren, responds to Trump's announcement on ending security aid, warns of losing UN backing, and expresses concern over shifts in Democratic support.

Former Israeli ambassador to the US, Michael Oren, addressed Trump's announcement on ending security aid to Israel. In an interview with 103FM, Oren warned of losing American backing at the UN, which he called "the political and diplomatic Iron Dome," and asked who would veto the next time sanctions are imposed on Israel. He expressed concern over Democrats taking control of one of the houses of Congress, noting they have already voted in the past to end security aid, which could escalate to ending intelligence aid. Oren wondered: "Who does something so tangible as an immediate cessation of aid, and in the midst of a war?" He also dismissed the possibility of replacing the military production line with China, defining it as crossing a red line for the Americans.
