The family describes Barak as someone raised to help others, and expresses pain that his values led to his death.

Barak Bar, 29, from Afula, was killed in a fatal car accident on the Sargel Road on January 22 this year. He got out of his car to assist victims of another accident and was run over by a vehicle driven by Yair Avraham Sapir, 86. Also killed in the accident was Ayelet Granit, 50, from Hadera. Barak, a graduate of a tennis academy in Barcelona and a former Border Police fighter, planned to propose to his girlfriend Orin on a trip to Thailand. His parents, Rahav and Mirav, are launching a public campaign to tighten oversight of elderly drivers, demanding comprehensive medical and cognitive tests. They express pain that the values of helping they instilled in their son led to his death. The driver who hit him was charged with negligent homicide and his license was suspended pending proceedings. The family fears legal delays and demands severe punishment.
