The order against distributing funds to those who don't vote: "We distribute support every holiday"

The Movement for Quality Government claims that the 'Shekel Hatahor' association, affiliated with the Satmar Hasidic sect, changed its method of distributing funds to circumvent a temporary order by the chairman of the Central Elections Committee, Judge Noam Solberg, which prohibited giving money in exchange for abstaining from voting. The association responded that the funds were already distributed last Thursday as general holiday support, as it does every year. The Elections Committee has yet to decide.

The Movement for Quality Government submitted a response to the Central Elections Committee, claiming that the 'Shekel Hatahor' association, affiliated with the Satmar Hasidic sect, changed its method of distributing funds to circumvent a temporary order issued by the committee chairman, Judge Noam Solberg. The order prohibited the association from giving money in exchange for abstaining from voting in the elections. According to a publication in 'Hayom', the sect found an alternative method: instead of a payment conditional on abstention, the money would be distributed as a donation and assistance to families ahead of the Sukkot holiday. The Movement for Quality Government argued that this was an attempt to circumvent the order. Judge Solberg ordered the association to respond to the claim. In its response, the association stated that the funds in question were already distributed last Thursday, and that it provides support ahead of holidays on a regular basis every year. The Central Elections Committee has yet to make a decision on the matter.
