Two civilian contract workers were arrested on suspicion of smuggling prohibited items into a detention facility in central Israel. The joint operational activity of detectives from the Prison Service's Central Unit and the Central District Police was uncovered following a suspicion raised against one of the workers. During surveillance and undercover investigation, it was discovered that another worker was also involved. In searches of their vehicles and prison cells, prohibited items were found hidden inside a seemingly innocent object. The two were arrested and transferred for questioning by the Prison Service's Investigations Division, which determined that their entry into all detention facilities was immediately banned. The Prison Service emphasized that it will continue to operate with zero tolerance against smuggling attempts.
