MK Dan Illouz opposes draft exemption compromise in coalition talks
MK Dan Illouz, who left Likud for Yisrael Beiteinu over the draft exemption law, warns against compromising on the issue in coalition negotiations and calls for a national unity government.
MK Dan Illouz, who left Likud and joined Yisrael Beiteinu following his opposition to the draft exemption law, is speaking out against the possibility that his new party would agree to a compromise on the issue within the framework of coalition negotiations. After Yisrael Beiteinu chairman Avigdor Liberman expressed willingness to be flexible on the conscription issue, Illouz reminds voters of the promise made and clarifies that he will not agree to an exemption law even if advanced by the opposing bloc. "This is the reason I moved from Likud to Yisrael Beiteinu," he wrote, and warned: "The price cannot be an exemption law." Illouz calls for the establishment of a Zionist unity government based on agreed-upon principles, rather than a bloc government.
