The grim forecast regarding traffic jams: "Today you meet the traffic jam already in the elevator"

Automotive journalist Boaz Korful said in an interview with Radio 103FM that traffic jams in Israel are worsening due to a surge in the number of vehicles, more frequent trips, and infrastructure that cannot keep up. According to him, about 600-700 thousand new drivers join every year, along with approximately one million second-hand car transactions and about 300,000 new cars per year.

Automotive journalist Boaz Korful said in an interview with Radio 103FM that traffic jams in Israel are worsening due to a surge in the number of vehicles, more frequent trips by drivers, and infrastructure that cannot keep up. According to him, "If in the past you would leave home and meet the traffic jam after 10 minutes or a quarter of an hour, today you meet it in the elevator." Korful linked population growth to the congestion: about 600-700 thousand new voters reach the age of 18 each year, and many of them get a driver's license and purchase a second-hand car. He noted that about one million second-hand car transactions take place in Israel each year, and about 300,000 new cars are delivered annually – a record year. On the other hand, he said, infrastructure is not keeping pace, and he wondered why a steering committee has not been established to submit a plan to the Minister of Transportation.
