The first school to throw notebooks in the trash – and switch to artificial intelligence

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Education Minister Yoav Kisch arrived this morning (Wednesday) in Migdal HaEmek for the inauguration of "Campus Shiah," an exceptional educational institution that opened in the city about two weeks ago. About 400 students study at the campus in 15 classes, along with a kindergarten class. Instead of traditional books and notebooks, students use tablets, computers, and interactive screens, alongside artificial intelligence labs. The stated goal is to reduce gaps and provide children with tools that will prepare them for the high-tech world and technological units in the IDF. The mayor of Migdal HaEmek, Yaki Ben Haim, addressed the concept behind the establishment of the campus. The school principal, Einat Vaknin, explained how the use of technological means integrates into the daily routine of studies. Technology is not presented as a separate subject, but as a tool for learning familiar subjects, such as using interactive models to study the human body systems or a virtual journey in geography. Even during breaks, giant screens on the walls turn the space into an interactive gaming arena based on logic and science. The Ministry of Education hopes that the local model will serve as a pilot, and if it proves itself, it will be expanded to additional institutions across the country.
