More than 40% of West Bank Palestinians believe Israel doesn’t have a right to exist, poll finds

A new INSS poll finds 46% of West Bank Palestinians believe Israel has no right to exist, while 41% believe it does. 42% think ending Israel's existence is possible. A new poll by the Institute for National Security Studies (INSS) reveals that 46% of West Bank Palestinians believe Israel does not have a right to exist, compared to 41% who believe it does. The survey of 400 respondents, conducted by phone between June 27 and July 2 with a 4.9% margin of error, also found that 42% believe it is possible to bring about the end of Israel's existence, while 32% say it is impossible. On the conflict's resolution, 27% favor a two-state solution, 22% support a single bi-national state with equal rights, and 26% prefer a single Palestinian state without a Jewish presence. Only 17% would accept a Palestinian state that permits Jews as residents or citizens. Despite these views, 52% prefer negotiations to end the conflict, and 57% believe violence has failed and international diplomacy is more fruitful. Regarding Gaza, 40% support Hamas disarming, and the most popular choice for governing the Strip is the US-backed National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG) at 32%. Imprisoned Fatah leader Marwan Barghouti is the preferred successor to PA President Mahmoud Abbas, with 34% support. The poll highlights deep concerns: 97% cite unemployment as the greatest issue, 96% identify settler violence as major, and 91% express concern about IDF operations in the West Bank. 60% report a low or very low sense of personal security.
