The head of the Tamar Regional Council, Nir Vanger, has turned to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and party leaders with a demand to put the issue of the eastern border on the public agenda, just before the elections. The appeal focuses on four main issues: the drying Dead Sea, Highway 90, settlement in the eastern Negev, and the four new communities being established in the Arad area. Vanger argues that the current reality of Highway 90, the main artery for communities along the lower Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea region, and down to Eilat, is unacceptable. According to him, the road is repeatedly closed to traffic in winter for long hours, harming transportation continuity on a vital route along the country's eastern border. Additionally, Vanger requests to include the four new communities in the Arad area within the Tamar Regional Council, claiming that the council has the experience, capability, and commitment to lead the development of the area. He invited Netanyahu to visit the region and emphasized that one cannot talk about security, transportation, or the future of the region without saving the Dead Sea.
