Ali Maswada indicted for murder of partner Yanina Rusinova in Haifa
Ali Maswada, 28, was indicted for stabbing his partner Yanina Rusinova to death in their Haifa apartment while their infant son was present. He allegedly washed her body and participated in resuscitation efforts.
Ali Maswada (28) is accused of murdering his wife Yonit (Yanina) Swaed in their Haifa apartment while their infant son was at home. According to the indictment, on the night between September 24 and 25, Maswada attacked his wife, took a knife from the kitchen, and stabbed her forcefully in the neck, damaging her trachea and blood vessels. After the stabbing, he moved his wife to the bathroom, washed the blood from her body and his own in an attempt to obscure evidence, then carried her to the stairwell and called the police. Officers arriving at the scene found Yonit without a pulse and began resuscitation efforts, which Maswada also joined. She was evacuated to Rambam Hospital, where her death was determined. Alongside the charge of intentional murder under aggravated circumstances, the prosecution also charges Maswada with obstruction of justice. The detention request argues that his 'cunning' behavior indicates his dangerousness and the risk of obstructing legal proceedings.
