Uber has announced an expansion of its partnership with OpenAI, deploying ChatGPT Work, an enterprise AI tool, to all 30,000 employees worldwide. The decision follows a successful pilot with 1,000 workers, 80% of whom were non-engineers. Uber did not disclose the cost but will monitor usage.
Ride-hailing giant Uber has announced an expansion of its partnership with OpenAI. As part of the move, all 30,000 employees worldwide will begin using ChatGPT Work, a dedicated enterprise AI tool launched last July, according to a report on TechCrunch. The decision follows a successful pilot conducted earlier this year, involving about 1,000 employees from various departments, including finance, operations, and product. About 80% of pilot participants were non-engineers. Uber's Vice President of Engineering, Sumant Sukumar, explained that employees used the tool for analyzing complex data, adapting training materials to different markets and languages, and building interactive dashboards. Uber did not disclose the financial cost of the move but clarified that they intend to closely monitor how employees use the tool.
