The event took on special significance as it was broadcast live to the tens of thousands gathered at Hostage Square in Tel Aviv, where former hostages who had returned from Gaza and families of the fallen were present. The Western Wall Rabbi, Shmuel Rabinowitz, delivered a heart-stirring prayer of thanksgiving, saying: "Look down from heaven and see how in the most difficult time we stood together." Due to the massive influx of people, giant screens were placed on the walls of the Old City and at the Jaffa Gate. The Western Wall Heritage Foundation announced that the main and final Selichot ceremony for this year will be held on Saturday night.
