Tehran reduces the power of Naim Qassem: the officer promoted at his expense

Meanwhile, Egypt is attempting to mediate between Hezbollah and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, amid a rift in relations and calls for the organization's disarmament.

According to reports in the Lebanese media, Iran has expressed dissatisfaction with the performance of Hezbollah Secretary-General Naim Qassem and has reduced his authority in sensitive matters within the organization. In his place, an officer in the Revolutionary Guards, Ali Abbas, has received a more prominent role in decision-making. Meanwhile, Egypt has begun indirect contacts with Hezbollah in an attempt to mediate between it and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, against the backdrop of a rift in relations. Aoun is calling for the organization's disarmament, while Hezbollah rejects this outright. Sources in Hezbollah have stated that the rift with the presidential palace is expected to continue, and that conditions have not yet matured for renewed communication. It was also reported that Hezbollah views the resumption of attacks as a "strategic option," as such a development would not serve Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu electorally.
