Stones, water cannons and arrests: the riots that interrupted the celebration in the capital

Violent riots broke out early this morning (Tuesday) during a celebration event in Jerusalem. Dozens of participants blocked the light rail traffic in the area of Bar-Lev and Zaks streets, threw stones at police officers, and clashed within the celebration compound. The riots began around 3:00 AM. Simultaneously, a brawl developed inside the celebration compound, endangering the revelers at the scene. The incident commander ordered those present to disperse, but they refused. Consequently, Jerusalem district police, Border Police fighters, and riot police dispersed the protesters using stun grenades and a water cannon. At the end of the event, five suspects were arrested on suspicion of involvement in the riots and violence, and they were transferred for questioning. The police stated that they are working to restore order.
