The Movement for Freedom of Information reveals that the staffing of the Security Division of the Ministry of Transport has shrunk from 21 positions in 2022 to just 19 in 2025, six of which are part-time. A former official in the ministry claims that the head of the division requested additional budgets and was denied by the director general. The Ministry of Transport denies this and claims it is 'fake news'.

The Movement for Freedom of Information has revealed alarming data on the state of the Security Division of the Ministry of Transport: the staffing has been reduced from 21 positions in 2022 to just 19 in 2025, with six of them defined as part-time positions intended for students and senior citizens. A former official in the Ministry of Transport told i24NEWS that the head of the Security Division had requested additional budgets over the years, including for upgrading the MAMLET system (Transport Management Information System), and was denied, especially by the current director general, Moshe Ben Zaken. According to him, in several meetings the head of the division warned that the role was too large for the division. In response, the Ministry of Transport denied the claims and stated that it is 'fake news'. The ministry said that during the 2026 budget discussions, they demanded 10 million shekels and 10 positions, but despite a written commitment from the Ministry of Finance, the budget and positions were not approved.
