Silman to accompany Netanyahu to the UN: flew to the US with a straw hat and sunglasses

Environmental Protection Minister Idit Silman flew on Tuesday afternoon to New York to accompany Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in his speech at the UN General Assembly. Silman, who lost any chance of being elected on the Likud list for the next Knesset after the primaries, was documented in the lounge at Ben Gurion Airport wearing a straw hat and large sunglasses alongside her aides and security guards, in an attempt to hide her identity. Her office stated that she is traveling as part of the ministry's schedule and will represent Israel at international events and forums on environmental and sustainability issues on the sidelines of the assembly. Last year as well, Silman joined Netanyahu's UN speech and published a photo with the Prime Minister and his wife. Meanwhile, Education Minister Yoav Kisch also flew to New York. Netanyahu will depart tomorrow for a brief visit to the US, will land on Thursday morning and deliver a speech at the assembly, without staying overnight in the city and in an unprecedented manner. His speech is expected to focus on the Iranian threat.
