A 15-year-old Arab teen broke into a synagogue in Afula, desecrated holy books and set fire to the restroom out of nationalist motives. The Northern District Attorney's Office filed an indictment against him today (Sunday) including charges of entering a place of worship, intentional property damage motivated by racism, and theft. The incident occurred on October 19, and was discovered after a person who opened the synagogue noticed smoke and heavy damage and called the police. The officers found holy books thrown on the floor with liquids spilled on them, and toilet paper rolls were set on fire in the restroom. The synagogue's charity box was stolen. The police released footage from the scene. The teen was arrested near the scene, and the investigation revealed that he committed the acts out of hostility toward the Jewish public, shortly after arguing with his family members.
