"Secret and air-conditioned tunnel" built from PM's home to the synagogue. But Netanyahu did not come

The Shin Bet and the Security Division of the Prime Minister's Office built a tunnel 15 to 20 meters long from the private home of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at 35 Gaza Street in Jerusalem to the Yad Tamar synagogue on HaAri Street in the Rehavia neighborhood. The tunnel, dubbed a "secret tunnel," was built so Netanyahu could walk from his home to the synagogue to participate in Yom Kippur prayers, and air conditioners were installed in it. However, construction of the tunnel was stopped midway, and Netanyahu himself did not come to the synagogue during the holiday. Building the tunnel required blocking the street to traffic, clearing public parking, and bringing in generators, fences, barriers, tents, and magnetometers to screen the crowd. Dozens of workers and police officers were involved in the construction operation. Security personnel took over nearby courtyards to allow the work to proceed. The home on Gaza Street is designated as the official residence of the prime minister while the residence on Balfour Street is under renovation. The neighbors were left with the aggravation of the construction nuisance, and the state with the financial costs.
