Second Israeli national arrested in US federal voter fraud sweep

Moriah Dahan, a 35-year-old Israeli citizen with a green card, was arrested in Los Angeles for allegedly voting illegally in the November 2024 US presidential election. She is one of six foreign nationals charged in a DOJ operation targeting non-citizen voting, bringing the total in California to 34. A second Israeli, Yehuda Peer, was charged earlier.

Moriah Dahan, a 35-year-old Israeli citizen residing in Los Angeles, was arrested Monday on suspicion of unlawfully voting in the November 2024 US presidential election despite not being a US citizen, the US Department of Justice announced. Dahan holds a green card, which grants permanent residency but not voting rights. According to the investigation, she registered to vote on November 5, 2024, and cast a ballot in person after falsely declaring US citizenship. A year later, when applying for US citizenship, she stated she had never claimed to be a citizen or registered to vote—statements prosecutors say were false. Dahan is one of six additional foreign nationals charged in a federal operation called Operation Protect the Vote, which has now brought charges against 34 defendants in California. This is the second Israeli charged in a short period; Yehuda Peer, a 30-year-old Israeli in Pennsylvania, was indicted earlier. The operation is part of a broader DOJ enforcement push ahead of the November 3 congressional midterm elections, amid a legal dispute between the Trump administration and California over voter roll integrity.
