The office explained that the intense itching caused by the disease leads to skin cracking, turning infections into wounds, bleeding sores, painful boils, and acute inflammations. The shortage of medications, hygiene products, worn-out clothing, and shared use among prisoners exacerbates the spread of infection. These conditions deprive infected prisoners of sleep and rest. This outbreak comes amid repeated complaints from prisoners and human rights organizations about the conditions of Palestinian prisoners in occupation prisons, including overcrowding, lack of medical care, and hygiene products. The office called on human rights and humanitarian bodies to urgently intervene to ensure the provision of healthcare for prisoners and limit the spread of the disease.
