Saudi-led coalition: Intercept and destroy a drone in the Mecca region
The Saudi-led coalition announced the interception and destruction of a drone in the Mecca region without reporting any damage, marking the second such targeting of the area in days, alongside the destruction of two drones in Riyadh, while the Houthis denied carrying out any military operation against Saudi territory.
The Saudi-led military coalition announced on Tuesday the interception and destruction of a drone in the Mecca region in western Saudi Arabia, without identifying the party that launched it. Coalition spokesman Turki al-Maliki said in a statement: "Intercept and destroy a drone in the Mecca region." Al-Maliki did not clarify whether the interception resulted in casualties or material damage. This is the second drone targeting in the Mecca region announced by the coalition after a previous announced targeting on Friday. Later, Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree denied in a statement that they had carried out any military operation against Saudi territory or targeted Mecca on Tuesday. The coalition announced on Monday the interception and destruction of two drones in the Riyadh region in central Saudi Arabia, without identifying the party that launched them. These developments come amid ongoing military escalation between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis in Yemen, including missile and drone attacks on sites inside Saudi Arabia and early warnings issued in several areas in recent days.
