The Saudi-led coalition in Yemen announced on Tuesday the interception and destruction of three ballistic missiles launched by the Houthis towards the eastern region, and four drones targeting the southern region of the Kingdom. This came amid escalating confrontation between Riyadh and the Iran-backed group. The US Embassy in Riyadh issued a security warning urging American citizens to exercise extreme caution when using Saudi airports, warning of possible attacks on airports, airspace closure, or flight cancellations. The embassy stressed the need to verify flight status directly with airlines and airport administrations, and required US government employees in Saudi Arabia to obtain special permission from the chief of mission before using any airport within the Kingdom. These developments come amid escalating clashes between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis, following renewed fighting and the collapse of the UN-brokered truce from 2022.
