Residents of the Gaza envelope react sharply to the television interview with Avi Gil, pointing an accusing finger at the political echelon. One resident, Koznitz, said there was nothing new in Gil's remarks, but what stood out was seeing "a man whose mouth and heart are equal" with genuine pain. According to him, Gil presented in the interview the warnings that were passed to the prime minister before October 7, the intelligence failures, and the conduct around protocols after the massacre, and rejected claims of betrayal preceding the Hamas attack. Koznitz stressed that he is not a political activist, describing himself as a citizen who was saved thanks to the bravery of the Zikim rapid response squad fighters. He went on to sharply criticize Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and called for the establishment of a state commission of inquiry, saying that "if we do not investigate and learn, the October 7 massacre will repeat itself." Another resident, Heller Kramer, said the feeling during the interview was that there is no truth and no honesty, and that everything said was meant to serve the interest of a leader who wants to stay in power. According to her, Netanyahu does not take responsibility, changes facts, denies warnings and alters protocols, and she added that the residents were abandoned and their lives destroyed.
