On Friday evening, residents of the village of Eilabun marked the 78th anniversary of the Eilabun massacre, committed by Zionist forces in 1948, which resulted in the martyrdom of 28 people from the village and the al-Mawasi clan. The commemoration program, called by the Popular Committee, included laying a wreath of flowers on the martyrs' shrine in the eastern neighborhood, and a march that set out from the village center towards the memorial at the entrance to the cemetery. During the commemoration, the Popular Committee affirmed its commitment to the duty of loyalty to the martyrs and preserving historical memory, and keeping the massacre present in the consciousness of the residents and successive generations. The events of the massacre date back to October 30, 1948, when 14 people from Eilabun were martyred, followed by the mass displacement of the village's residents to Lebanon.
