Israel's Channel 12 revealed that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held conversations with US President Donald Trump about resuming a large-scale military offensive against Iran before the Knesset elections scheduled for October 27. American officials concluded that Netanyahu seeks to carry out the attacks before the vote, while Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi warned of a possible postponement of the elections due to a potential Iranian response.
Israel's Channel 12 revealed that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held several conversations with US President Donald Trump over the past two weeks about resuming large-scale military operations against Iran, noting that American officials concluded that Netanyahu wants to carry out the attacks before the elections scheduled for October 27. The channel quoted an American official saying that Netanyahu discussed the matter with Trump several times, and that the US president told him: "Okay, you know what, Netanyahu? Go ahead and prepare," but did not commit to executing the operation. The official added that the phrase "go ahead and prepare" could mean carrying out the operation now, later, or not at all. Netanyahu based his proposal on what he described as concerning Iranian developments in the nuclear field, including steps to reactivate various components of Iran's nuclear program. In response, Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi warned security agency leaders that a potential Iranian missile response could lead to a postponement of the elections and erode public trust in the military.
