Rambam Hospital to rise in height: its area and number of beds will be doubled
The Haifa Local Planning and Building Committee approved advancing a plan to expand Rambam Hospital, including doubling the number of beds to 1,875 and increasing the built-up area to approximately 530,000 square meters, while changing land use in the Bat Galim neighborhood.
The Haifa Local Planning and Building Committee approved advancing a plan to expand Rambam Hospital, which includes doubling the number of beds from 976 to 1,875. The expansion will be carried out through a significant addition of space, including a westward "incursion" into the Bat Galim neighborhood, where residential plots will be converted for hospital use. The total hospital area will increase to 101 dunams, and the built-up area will reach approximately 530,000 square meters, double the current size. The plan includes 11-story buildings and a 20-story research and development tower, a new underground entrance to the emergency room, and the regulation of an additional helipad. Haifa Mayor Yona Yahav expressed support for the plan, defining Rambam as a strategic asset. However, this is only a preliminary step, and the plan requires approval from the district committee.
