Prisoners' Media: The Occupation Continues to Deny Gaza Prisoners in 'Janot' Medical Treatment

The Prisoners' Media Office reported that the administration of Janot prison continues to deny Gaza prisoners medical care, especially those injured in the attack of October 7th, where one prisoner suffers from rib fractures and a head injury without treatment, and the prison refuses to give another painkillers for a broken leg fixed with metal plates, while medical neglect also applies to chronic patients.

The Prisoners' Media Office reported on Monday that the administration of Janot prison continues to deny prisoners from the Gaza Strip medical care, particularly those injured during the suppression operation they were subjected to on October 7th. The office stated that one prisoner suffers from rib fractures and a head injury from the recent assault without receiving necessary medical care, while the prison administration refuses to give another prisoner painkillers despite his suffering from a broken leg fixed with metal plates. It pointed out that the policy of medical neglect extends to prisoners with chronic diseases, as a prisoner with thalassemia and high blood pressure does not receive his necessary medication, having lost about 50 kilograms of his weight since his arrest. It added that prisoners with scabies and fungal infections suffer severe pain and itching that deprives them of sleep, coinciding with a shortage of medicine and cleaning materials, explaining that the prison administration only allows laundry once every ten days. The office held the occupation fully responsible for the deterioration of prisoners' health conditions, calling on international institutions and the International Committee of the Red Cross to intervene urgently. These statements come days after the office revealed details of an assault by suppression forces on Gaza prisoners inside Janot prison on October 7th, using rubber bullets, gas, pepper spray, sticks, batons, and police dogs. The Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners Affairs Authority previously documented continued beatings, suppression, lack of healthcare, and a severe shortage of personal items, with some rooms housing 12 prisoners and only having ten beds.
