"Prisoners' Committee": Ben Gvir's threats to prisoners require international action and accountability for the occupation
The Prisoners' Committee of the National and Islamic Forces and the Supreme National Committee for the Families of Gaza Prisoners condemned the incursions of Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir into prisoner sections and his threats, calling for urgent international action to protect prisoners and hold those responsible for violations accountable.
The Prisoners' Committee of the National and Islamic Forces and the Supreme National Committee for the Families of Gaza Prisoners, along with released prisoners and specialists, condemned the incursions of Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir into prisoner sections and cells, his provocations, and his continuous threats. This came during the weekly vigil organized by the committee every Monday in front of the International Committee of the Red Cross headquarters in Gaza City. Participants raised Palestinian flags and pictures of prisoner leader Hassan Salama, along with banners demanding freedom for prisoners. They called on international institutions, foremost the Red Cross, to assume their responsibilities towards prisoners, ensure their protection, and provide their basic needs. Committee member Nasser al-Saba warned of the danger of the "Execution of Prisoners" bill, considering its passage a shift from policies of repression to targeting the right to life. Nisreen Radi called for the protection of female prisoners from isolation, incursions, and humiliating procedures, and demanded disclosure of the fate of detainees since October 7, 2023. The vigil concluded with an affirmation that the prisoner issue represents a unifying national cause requiring continuous Palestinian and international action.
