Assuta Ashdod Public Hospital has won a prestigious international innovation award from the American healthcare technology giant InterSystems for developing the "Assuta Medical Sandbox" system. A judging panel of MIT experts selected the system for a double win in the company's international innovation awards. The system connects a variety of information sources, including the electronic medical record, lab tests, imaging, pathology, and videos from surgeries and procedures, providing a broad picture of the patient journey and enabling the testing of medical technologies in real-world conditions. The system is already connecting technology companies: BloodGPT uses the platform to test AI tools that assist in analyzing and interpreting lab tests, and seeCOLe is preparing to test MARY — a clinical AI assistant accessible through augmented reality glasses, allowing doctors to see relevant information from the medical record during treatment without working at a computer. The hospital's CEO, Dr. Galit Kaufman, said that the ability to turn an active hospital into an environment that develops and tests AI medicine places Assuta Ashdod alongside the world's leading medical centers. The innovation director, Dr. Gil Levy, noted that what started as an idea is becoming an active ecosystem of medical innovation, and that the direct connection between entrepreneurs, researchers, and medical teams shortens the path from idea to solution. Eyal Shorian, CEO of InterSystems Israel, emphasized that the platform was selected due to the combination of technological innovation, advanced use of artificial intelligence, and a real impact on the world of medicine.
