Planning and Building Committee of the Bar Association Requests to Postpone Objection Hearings for Tel Aviv Master Plan
The Planning and Building Committee of the Israel Bar Association has asked the Tel Aviv Municipality to postpone the objection hearings for the Tel Aviv Master Plan TA/5500 and extend the speaking time for each objector, arguing that the current format does not allow for an in-depth discussion of a plan that will shape the city's future.
The Planning and Building Committee of the Israel Bar Association has approached the Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality with a request to postpone the hearings on objections to the new city master plan, TA/5500, and to change their format. The request was submitted by the committee's co-chairs, attorneys Anat Biran, Tali Salton, Shay Partush, Eyal Shkib, and Yossi Katz. The hearings are scheduled to begin on November 3, 2026, and under the current format, about one hundred objections are expected to be heard per day, with five minutes per objector, without the option of remote participation via Zoom. The committee requests to extend speaking time, reduce the daily number of objections, and allow remote participation. Additionally, it asks to first amend the plan in accordance with the comments of the Planning Administration regarding its incompatibility with National Master Plan 70. The plan, targeting a population of about 600,000 residents by 2035, includes the addition of about 50,000 housing units and about 800,000 square meters of employment space. Over 500 objections have been submitted, including from the Tel Aviv Municipality itself and from the city engineer.
