Oman announces evacuation of 25 crew members from commercial vessel targeted off its coast

Oman announced the evacuation of 25 crew members from a Panama-flagged commercial vessel after it was targeted off the coast of Musandam Governorate on the Strait of Hormuz, causing a fire on board. This comes amid ongoing tensions in the strait, where Iran's Revolutionary Guard reported 'incidents' affecting three oil tankers.

Oman announced on Friday the evacuation of 25 crew members from a commercial vessel that was targeted off the coast of Musandam Governorate on the Strait of Hormuz, as Iran continues to target ships in the strait area. Oman's Maritime Security Center wrote on platform 'X' that the Royal Navy of Oman, in coordination with the Maritime Security Center, carried out an evacuation operation for 25 crew members of the commercial vessel (RITI), flying the flag of the Republic of Panama, after it was targeted, causing a fire on board, off the coast of Musandam Governorate, noting that the crew members received 'necessary medical care'. Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps announced on Friday that three oil tankers were subjected to 'incidents' of unspecified nature in the Strait of Hormuz. US Central Command (CENTCOM) commander Brad Cooper said US forces 'successfully cleared the main internationally recognized transit routes in the strait of Iranian naval mines' and remain 'present to ensure all main transit routes in the Strait of Hormuz remain safe and unobstructed'. The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported that an unknown projectile struck a vessel 40 nautical miles south of Iran's Lavan Island, causing a fire on board.
