Occupation begins building new settlement and paving settlement road in Al-Majd, Hebron
Israeli occupation forces and settlers began on Thursday building a new settlement and paving a 3-kilometer settlement road in the village of Al-Majd, southwest of Hebron, threatening to seize over 2,000 dunams of agricultural land belonging to residents, according to the head of the Al-Majd village council, Yasser Al-Masharqa.
Israeli occupation forces and settlers began on Thursday building a new settlement and paving a settlement road in the village of Al-Majd, southwest of Hebron, threatening to seize over 2,000 dunams of agricultural land belonging to residents. Local sources reported that occupation forces, accompanied by groups of settlers, began excavation and construction work to establish a new settlement on residents' land east of Al-Majd village, west of Dura town, and paving a settlement road leading to that settlement. The head of the Al-Majd village council, Yasser Al-Masharqa, said that since October 7, 2023, occupation forces have gradually seized residents' land east of the village and prevented them from accessing it since then. He added that the seized area exceeds 2,000 dunams of agricultural and grazing land, which constitutes the main source of income for many village residents, and that occupation forces and settlers began digging and building today to establish a new settlement on the village's land, which they named 'Majd', in an attempt to also seize the village's name, according to the Palestinian news agency Wafa. He confirmed that the occupation and settlers paved a road over three kilometers long, carved from the village's land, connecting the new settlement to the 'Negohot' settlement and the road leading to the 1948 territories, threatening to deprive residents of thousands of dunams of surrounding agricultural land extending along that road.
