Number of eligible voters in Druze villages on the Golan Heights nearly tripled

The number of eligible voters in the four Druze villages on the Golan Heights has nearly tripled since the last Knesset elections. In the elections for the 26th Knesset, approximately 8,100 voters are registered, compared to about 2,750 in 2022. The increase reflects a rise in the number of residents who have received Israeli citizenship since the fall of the Assad regime.

The number of eligible voters in the four Druze villages on the Golan Heights has nearly tripled since the last Knesset elections. In the elections for the 26th Knesset, held today (Tuesday), about 8,100 voters are registered in the villages, compared to about 2,750 in the elections for the 25th Knesset in 2022. In Majdal Shams, the number rose from 1,338 to 3,715, and in Buq'ata from 749 to 2,305. In Mas'ade, it rose from 461 to 1,293, and in Ein Qiniyye from 207 to 831, a fourfold increase. Only Israeli citizens are allowed to vote in Knesset elections, so the data reflects a sharp increase in the number of village residents who have received Israeli citizenship since the fall of the Assad regime. Currently, about 8,100 out of approximately 19,000 village residents over the age of 18 hold Israeli citizenship, nearly half of them.
