Not returning to October 6: The demand of the Gaza envelope communities from the next government
The 'Habayta' forum, which unites 14 communities severely affected by the October 7 massacre, has formulated a document of demands for the next government. The demands include establishing a permanent security buffer zone opposite Gaza, funding for rehabilitation, and anchoring the commitments in coalition agreements. Forum representatives met with party leaders to ensure the demands become binding commitments.
Ahead of the elections and the formation of the next government, the 'Habayta' forum, which unites the leadership of the 14 communities most severely affected by the October 7 massacre, has formulated a document of demands to be presented to the parties. Central demands include: establishing a permanent security buffer zone between the Gaza Strip and the Gaza envelope communities through continuous military presence, even after the IDF withdraws from the yellow line. Residents demand permanent funding for cameras, command centers, and monitoring equipment, and long-term regulation of emergency response teams. Forum representatives held meetings with party leaders to anchor the commitments in the basic guidelines and coalition agreements. Another issue is the future of the communities after the end of the Tekuma administration, with a demand for a multi-year plan for education, health, and welfare, alongside removing planning and construction barriers and strengthening agriculture and energy. The forum's CEO, Eden Bizman, said that the envelope communities cannot build a future on temporary solutions, and that the demands must be included in the coalition agreements. Forum chairman, Ziv Matzliach, added that the security issues, the five-year plan, and the yellow line must be addressed from the first day of the next government.
