No more running between trains: the huge transportation complex on its way to Tel Aviv

The Subcommittee on Principal Planning Matters recommended depositing the Transportation Ministry's plan to establish an integrated transportation complex (Mitcham) at Savidor-Tel Aviv Center. The complex will connect the metro, light rail, Israel Railways and high-speed trains, and will include extensive urban development of about 700,000 square meters, roofing over the Ayalon and underground passages.

The Subcommittee on Principal Planning Matters (Velantza) recommended today (Tuesday) to the National Council for Planning and Building to deposit the Transportation Ministry's plan to establish an integrated transportation complex (Mitcham) at the Savidor-Tel Aviv Center site. This is an important stage on the way to building a huge transportation center that will connect all means of public transportation and become the central hub of the Tel Aviv metropolis. According to the plan, the future Mitcham will connect the M1 metro line, the Red and Purple lines of the light rail, the Savidor Center Israel Railways station, a new underground station for high-speed trains and an electric bus terminal. A system of short, direct underground passages will allow convenient and fast passage between all means of transportation. Alongside the infrastructure, the plan includes urban development of about 700,000 square meters, which will include commercial, employment, residential and public spaces. The planning combines green environmental development, roofing over the Ayalon routes and improvement of urban continuity, while giving priority to pedestrians, cyclists and public transportation users. The Transportation Ministry notes that combining the systems under one roof will improve the travel experience and encourage a shift to public transportation.
