A new episode of KAN 11's documentary series 'Real Time' (Zman Emet), titled 'The Shift' (Ha Mishmeret), commemorates the third anniversary of the October 7 massacre by focusing on Soroka Medical Center in Beersheba. The hospital received the majority of casualties that day, treating 674 people from the Nova music festival, military bases, Sderot, Ofakim, highways, and kibbutzim. The documentary follows Dr. Sabry El Sayed, deputy head of the ENT department, who describes the day as exposing him to 'powerful cruelty.' He recounts losing his colleague Dr. Daniel Levy, an ENT resident from Kibbutz Be'eri who was killed while treating the wounded. The episode captures the chaos as staff treated waves of wounded while worrying about family members and colleagues who could not reach the hospital. One staff member lost her soldier son and came to identify his body. The documentary uses hospital security footage with patient consent, showing dazed female border observers from Nahal Oz, a woman learning her boyfriend was kidnapped from the Nova festival, and desperate parents seeking information about their children. The episode also notes that about 18 months later, the hospital was hit by an Iranian missile, but no one was seriously harmed due to foresight and luck. The host's TikTok promo for the episode was removed for allegedly spreading false information.
