Netanyahu in closed talks: does not rule out rotation with Eisenkot

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu does not rule out a rotation with Gadi Eisenkot in closed talks, contrary to messages from senior Likud officials. Netanyahu fears a government of the change bloc with the ultra-Orthodox and Arab parties.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu does not categorically rule out the possibility of a rotation for the position of prime minister with Yashar chairman Gadi Eisenkot, as part of forming a unity government. In closed talks, Netanyahu responded: "We are examining everything. I do not completely rule out any option." This is contrary to messages from senior Likud officials, who ruled out a rotation. The reason: Likud fears that the change bloc will form a government with the ultra-Orthodox and Arab parties, which would hold a full term. Meanwhile, the change bloc is working to form a narrow government headed by Eisenkot, with external support from Ra'am and partnership with United Torah Judaism. Within United Torah Judaism, an internal discussion is taking place, and they are awaiting a concrete proposal from Eisenkot. Consultations at the President's Residence will begin on Wednesday.
