MQG demands probe into Netanyahu's reported US aid waiver

The Movement for the Quality of Government (MQG) has called for a criminal investigation into Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's reported initiative to end US defense aid to Israel, following US President Donald Trump's statement that Netanyahu proposed the move. MQG submitted an appeal on November 3, questioning whether the decision was linked to Trump's endorsement of Netanyahu in the 2026 election and whether proper consultations were held.

The Movement for the Quality of Government (MQG) has called on law enforcement authorities to investigate Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's reported initiative to end US defense aid to Israel, raising concerns about a possible improper connection to US President Donald Trump's endorsement of Netanyahu in the 2026 election. In an appeal submitted on November 3 to Attorney-General Gali Baharav-Miara, the State Attorney, and police, MQG requested a criminal investigation into whether there was reasonable suspicion of breach of trust or bribery of a foreign public official. The appeal follows Trump's statement that he agreed with Netanyahu, at the prime minister's initiative, to end the approximately $4 billion in annual US defense assistance. MQG said the decision was made without the involvement of the defense establishment or the IDF, despite the existing aid agreement running through 2028. Ending the assistance during the remaining two years could remove about $7.6 billion from Israel's defense funding. MQG also questioned how the move aligns with Netanyahu's previously stated plan to gradually reduce aid dependence over a decade. Attorney Yaniv Goldberg, head of MQG's Economic Department, said: "Israel's security funds must not serve as compensation for personal political support."
