A new survey by the Jewish People Policy Institute (JPPI) reveals that a majority of US Jews with a connection to Israel support an opposition bloc victory in the upcoming elections. 57% of respondents prefer the opposition to win, compared to 15% who support the continuation of the current coalition's rule. 78% define the elections as fateful, and 55% even call them "especially important." The main gap between US Jews and Israelis concerns priorities: while in the US, unity and internal reconciliation top the list (36%), in Israel, security is the decisive issue (34%). A concerning finding in the survey shows that about a quarter (23%) of staunch liberals believe that Israel's existence is not essential to the future of the Jewish people. JPPI CEO Dr. Shuki Friedman called on the next government to work to strengthen ties with Diaspora Jewry.
