A civil lawsuit for more than 2.5 million shekels was filed this week at the Central District Court in Lod against Meir Leifer, the son of Malka Leifer, who was convicted of sex offenses against her students. Leifer was convicted of committing an indecent act against a 10-year-old boy as part of a plea deal. The boy, now 13, is seeking additional compensation for psychological and social damages he claims were caused to him. The lawsuit alleges that the incident affected the boy's mental state, including anxiety, sleep and concentration difficulties, and impaired academic and social functioning. The lawsuit also seeks 120,000 shekels without proof of damage for each of the three indecent acts, as well as the appointment of a court-appointed psychiatrist. The amended indictment describes three incidents in which Leifer came to the family's home, and in the last of these, he hugged, kissed, and placed his hands on the child's genitals over his clothing. Leifer was previously sentenced to eight months of community service, a suspended prison sentence, 45,000 shekels in compensation, and a probation order.
