Mellanox founder warns Israel will be in ‘serious trouble’ without a new government

Mellanox founder Eyal Waldman warned at a Birthright Israel summit that Israel faces 'serious trouble' without a new government, calling the Netanyahu-led government 'one of the worst.' He cited international isolation and sanctions threats as harming the tech sector. The opposition holds 67 Knesset seats to Netanyahu's 53 but lacks a clear coalition path.

Eyal Waldman, founder of Mellanox and a prominent entrepreneur, warned at Birthright Israel's international business summit in Tel Aviv that Israel will be in 'serious trouble' without a new government. He called the current government led by Benjamin Netanyahu 'one of the worst we've ever had in Israel' and urged its removal. The warning comes less than a week after Israelis voted, with parties opposed to Netanyahu holding 67 Knesset seats to his bloc's 53, though deep divisions prevent a clear alternative coalition. Waldman accused the government of harming democratic principles and driving international isolation, citing Western sanctions threats over settlement policies. He said a change in government would make it easier for tech startups to raise money and grow in Israel. Finance Ministry Budget Commissioner Maharan Frozenfar told the summit the ministry is preparing a five-year plan to strengthen the economy, focusing on tech, AI, and infrastructure. Waldman, whose daughter was killed on October 7, 2023, also called for resolving regional disputes with Lebanon, Syria, and the Palestinians, and bringing Saudi Arabia into the Abraham Accords.
