Irish media outlets evacuated after bomb threat
Several Irish media outlets, including RTE, evacuated their offices on Friday after a bomb threat received by email, causing broadcast disruptions. Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin called for calm.
Major media outlets in Ireland were evacuated today (Friday) over a bomb threat received via email. The threat, which arrived around 09:00 local time (11:00 Israel time), claimed a bomb would explode within 45 minutes. As a result, regular broadcasts were suspended for over an hour, and radio and television stations switched to outside broadcast vans. At one station, presenter Claire Byrne reported live that the threat turned out to be a false alarm and employees were allowed to return. However, the RTE broadcast complex in South Dublin remained closed during police sweeps. Ireland's Prime Minister, Michael Martin, said in an interview that the incident illustrates how easy it is to cause disruption through actions designed to create fear, and called for calm and focus.
