The mayor of Alkmaar, Anja Schouten, clarified in a special city council meeting that she supports the decision not to allow Hapoel Be'er Sheva fans to attend the Europa League match. According to her, local authorities cannot guarantee the safety of Israeli fans due to high-risk threats. The decision was based on intelligence information received from police, prosecution, and municipal authorities in Amsterdam, which warned that the signs and threats surrounding the match are even more severe than those recorded before the disturbances against Maccabi Tel Aviv fans. Schouten emphasized that local leadership bears responsibility for the safety of residents, and therefore the entry of Israeli fans was blocked.
