An indictment was filed today (Tuesday) against a driver who harassed two young women on Sderot, followed them, and ran over a man who tried to protect them. The incident occurred in early September, when the defendant and another man passed by two national service volunteers, began harassing them with honks, and continued driving after them even as they tried to get away. The young women approached neighbor Shmuel Pahima, who asked for help. Pahima approached the vehicle, photographed the license plate, and dialed the police hotline. During the call, the defendant physically attacked him and then ran him over. Pahima remained sprawled on the hood and was thrown onto the road as the defendant turned left. Pahima told i24NEWS that the young women came to him crying, and that he tried to speak calmly with the driver before the situation escalated. According to him, the driver tried to snatch the phone from his hand while he was speaking with the police, and then accelerated toward him. He added that he fought with his fingernails not to fall off the vehicle.
