Two attempts to smuggle stolen vehicles into Judea and Samaria under the guise of routine towing were thwarted last night (Wednesday) at the Rantis checkpoint, and five suspects were arrested. In the first incident, the owners of two vehicles left their cars for repair at a garage in central Israel. According to suspicion, the vehicles were stolen from the garage and loaded onto a tow truck to be transferred to Judea and Samaria, but police stopped the tow truck at the checkpoint. Three suspects in their 30s, residents of Tamra and Kfar Manda, were arrested. In another incident, police stopped a tow truck that was transporting a car from Elad to the Palestinian village of Shuqba, after the tow truck was ordered via an app. Two suspects, residents of Ashkelon in their 20s and 30s, were arrested. In a separate case, a report was received about a car stolen from Herzliya, and police located it on Route 55 and returned it to its owner. Over the past week, Samaria District police thwarted the theft of 12 stolen vehicles and arrested ten suspects.
