A new transportation complex in western Rishon LeZion will open on Sunday, October 4, 2026, offering drivers from the Shfela and the south an alternative to entering Tel Aviv by private car. The complex has 3,500 free parking spaces, and from it four free shuttle lines will depart to major employment centers in the city: Line 861 to Kirya, Sarona, and Azrieli Center; Line 862 to the Stock Exchange area and Savidor Station; Line 863 to the Begin and HaMasger area; and Line 864 to the Yigal Alon area. The shuttles will operate Sunday through Thursday, from 06:00 to 22:45, with a frequency of up to five minutes during peak hours, and each has 44 seats, Wi-Fi connection, and charging sockets. The complex is part of the fast lane network, spanning about 33 kilometers in each direction on the Coastal Highway and Highway 20, and also includes a similar complex in Shfayim in the north. The total project cost is estimated at about 8 billion shekels over 15 years, of which about 3.5 billion shekels is the concessionaire's investment. The article notes that so far no disappearance of the heavy traffic congestion on the section between Shfayim and Tel Aviv has been recorded. The next phase, expected in 2027, will open the fast lanes to private cars with three or more passengers free of charge, using an automatic counting system with accuracy below 90%. Also planned are reversible lanes between Wingate Interchange and Shfayim Interchange and later up to Highway 57.
