Education Minister Yoav Kisch addressed the national parents' leadership conference regarding the disaster during the annual school trip in the north, in which Yair Eleazar was killed. Kisch said he was leaving the conference for the funeral, and that the circumstances of the incident are still being investigated. He praised the students' response after the disaster: "Our youth performed amazingly. They thought it was a terror attack, at first they didn't understand. The youth returned, functioned, called for help, and provided initial care for the wounded and their friends." Kisch clarified that the resumption of trips depends on an IDF situation assessment regarding the danger of falling debris. The chairman of the parents' leadership, Oren Ozen, called for an investigation and lessons to be learned: "No more committees and no more promises, it's time for action." The chairman of the Teachers' Union, Ran Erez, claimed that so far he has only heard slogans. Kisch also addressed his plans for the education system, including a reform worth 15 billion shekels.
